On s'arrête de se sentir affamé, assoiffé, puis on perd la capacité de parler, puis de perdre la vue, puis d'entendre et enfin de perdre la capacité de toucher. Essoufflement, fatigue extrême, délire :souvent dû à un manque d'oxygène, constipation et nausée. Le cerveau essaie ici de supprimer les fonctions les moins importantes pour préserver la vie, de sorte que la peau commence à montrer les signes de la mort : elle devient froide et pâle.
Après un court instant, la personne devient faible et ne peut plus tousser, ni avaler et sa respiration produira un son inquiétant au fond de sa gorge. Le compte à rebours commence, dés maintenant ; il y aura une chaise vide à la table à manger, il n' y aura pas de place pour pour ses vêtements dans le placard, ses amis ne pourront plus le serrer, la carte d'identité se transformera en une déclaration de décès..
